The Yasmeen Jobeh and Yvonne Joby Memorial Scholarship

The FAA Scholarship Committee was introduced to Yasmeen Jobeh in 2017 when she applied for and won an FAA scholarship award. Remembered as a beautiful and intelligent young lady who was full of energy and ready to help anyone whenever needed, Yasmeen graduated from California State University Northridge (CSUN) with a BA degree in Criminology and Justice Studies and a minor in Psychology. Yasmeen was an asset to her school and to her community.  She worked as a youth advisor at Seneca Family Agency, a mental health care facility for youth. There, she helped young people and their families meet their academic, social/emotional and behavioral needs and goals, reaching them in their homes, schools, and communities.  Yasmeen's cousin, Yvonne Joby, graduated from Buena High School in 2021. That year, Yvonne began studying at Ventura College and started a job where she worked with children with disabilities. Yvonne was a valuable asset to her community.

The Fairouzah and the larger community was shocked and saddened to learn of the recent sudden and tragic deaths of Yasmeen and Yvonne, along with their beautiful friend Jennifer Dagher.  They will all be missed dearly.

The Jobeh family has spearheaded a fund on GoFundMe to honor their daughter Yasmeen and their niece Yvonne, to award a scholarship to students who wish to pursue a career in mental health or nursing. These two young ladies planned to serve the world in those career paths, and the family wants to honor their memories by awarding scholarships in their names.

The family has chosen us, the Fairouzah American Association's Scholarship Committee, to assist them in awarding a memorial scholarship. We are very honored to help the family. If there are any qualified applicants, one of the scholarships this year will be awarded to a deserving student by the family, and preference will be given to those pursuing a career in mental healthcare or nursing.

The name of the scholarship will be The Yasmeen Jobeh and Yvonne Joby Memorial Scholarship.

Students who apply to the 2023-2024 FAA scholarship, accessible here, will automatically be considered for the memorial scholarship, but a student can only win one scholarship.

The Jobeh family will be involved in assisting us in choosing a winner for the memorial scholarship award, and will match the same amount as the FAA award. Again, each qualified applicant can only win ONE scholarship award, but not both.
